Adam L. Sharp, MD, MSc

Chief Executive Officer

Adam L. Sharp, MD, MSc, is a board-certified emergency physician at the Los Angeles Medical Center, a research scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Southern California (KPSC) Research and Evaluation Department and is the Director of Academic Affairs for the new KP Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in the Department of Clinical Science. He attended the University of Utah where he was a member of the 1998 NCAA Final Four basketball team and president of his medical school class. He completed residency at Indiana University where he was a chief resident, elected to the Gold Humanism Society and named the Resident Teacher of the Year.

After residency, Dr. Sharp became a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Michigan earning a master’s degree in Health and Health Care Research. Dr. Sharp came to KP in 2013 to become an embedded researcher in a learning health system; he works to apply science in a real-world way that improves care delivery and health, and he is the current Director of the Care Improvement Research Team. His work has resulted in better antibiotic stewardship, improved stroke care, and improved care delivery for patients with head trauma and acute chest pain. He values the impact of social circumstances on the health of individuals and has been involved in projects to understand ways that health systems can better understand and address the social risks of patients.

Adam Sharp brings a rich medical background and data science perspective to Galvan. He envisions a future where everyone owns and controls their health data, and can receive unbiased health information to make smarter medical decisions.

Jeff Wilhite

President

Jeff Wilhite has been a respected business leader in the healthcare space for over 20 years, serving in an executive capacity in various facets of the industry, including post-acute facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, laboratory groups, behavioral health enterprises, and GPO’s.

Jeff’s innate ability to stabilize and then optimize the operations of critical care facilities, often under difficult time and budgetary constraints, has earned him a stellar reputation as a patient-focused leader and innovator. Jeff is passionate about correcting the inefficiencies in healthcare delivery by shifting the focus back to patient well-being.

An entrepreneur at heart, Jeff thrives in high-growth-potential environments, making him uniquely qualified to turn the promise that blockchain holds for medical delivery into reality.

David Bearss PhD

Advisor

David J. Bearss, Ph.D is an experienced entrepreneur and drug developer. Dr. Bearss has a consistent and successful track record of drug discovery and development that spans the last 20 years in both academic and industrial settings. He is an expert in small molecule drug development and in the use of genetic model systems in drug discovery. He has deep experience in translational research focused on drug development and the use of genetic markers to predict drug sensitivity.

Dr. Bearss has been involved in the discovery of 15 compounds that have transitioned to INDs and moved forward in clinical development. He has been a co-founder of 5 biotech companies and has been an active scientific advisor to several others. Dr. Bearss served as Chief Scientific Officer at Montigen Pharmaceuticals and SuperGen Inc. overseeing early drug discovery and development. He was the founding Co-Director of the Center for Investigational Therapeutics at the Huntsman Cancer Institute as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncological Sciences at the University of Utah and Associate Professor of Physiology & Developmental Biology at Brigham Young University. Dr. Bearss was the founder and CEO of Tolero Pharmaceuticals which he led through its acquisition by Sumitomo DaiNippon Pharma in 2017. He stayed on after the acquisition as CEO of Tolero and as Global head of Research and CSO of SDP Oncology.

He is also serving as the Senior Managing Director, UTAH Therapeutics Accelerator at the University of Utah which is focused on helping new therapeutic technologies discovered at the University of Utah transition to clinical development. Dr. Bearss has published more than 80 manuscripts and book chapters, has over 50 patents issued or pending and has won several awards for his scientific achievements.

Kathy Roberts

As the current Chairman and CEO of the Switch Reward Card, Kathleen Roberts, former President of Discover Bank and co-creator of Discover Card, is known for creating profitability in existing organizations. Ms. Roberts began her career in Seattle, as a temporary customer service representative at Sears, Roebuck & Company during the holiday season of 1971. Management was quick to recognize her talent and within a short time gave her management responsibilities over human resources, followed by additional responsibilities over customer service.

In 1986 Ms. Roberts took the assignment to manage human resources at various operational centers for Sears’ Credit fledgling consumer credit company, Discover Card. Shortly thereafter, Ms Roberts assumed control of the company’s 24-hour customer service inbound call center, card member security, physical security, and operations budget as the Director of Operations.

By 1997, Ms. Roberts was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Salt Lake City operations, and in that capacity managed new accounts, customer service, product marketing and loan activity. Three years later Ms. Roberts was appointed President and Chief Operations Officer of Discover Bank and remained in that position until her retirement from the Company in 2006.

For over 34 years, Ms. Roberts has, through her work ethic, determination, and aptitude for creating customer-centric business processes, played in instrumental part in the transformation of the financial services industry and now applies those to skills to the emerging digital currency market.

Travis Cook

Travis Cook is an accomplished entrepeneur and software expert, with over 25 years of experience as CEO, CTO, and founder. In 1996, he founded SolutionStream, a highly successful software company whose clients include Novell, FranklinCovey, Valero, Excelon, FinancialFusion and more. In 2014, he became the CEO of Todo Cloud, which is a top-selling todo list and productivity app for power users and teams, where he led massive growth over his 7 years there.

Travis also brings blockchain experience and expertise to Galvan. He has started and ran his own Bitcoin mining operation, invested in and advised multiple crypto startups, and has built custom software solutions in blockchain technology.

Tom Karren

Advisor

Tom’s extensive experience as a tech entrepreneur is augmented by his technical education and savvy. His accomplishments include co-founding, growing, & exiting WingateWeb (an enterprise software company), founding a development studio (mCubedLabs), founding a mobile device management platform (Moki), and advising numerous tech startups. As aserial entrepreneur at heart, Tom’s experience includes founding mCubedLabs, and WingateWeb. He is also an associate founder and board member at the BYU Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.

Brant Frank

Chief Blockchain Officer

Brant Frank has been a leader in software consulting and engineering for the past 20 years. Leading and consulting development teams, Brant contributed significantly to Intermountain Health Care’s emergency room software that is still used today. Brant spent 8 years in the FinTech space where he was a hedge fund manager specializing in algorithmic trading and software systems. Brant entered the blockchain space four years ago and has played an active role in many projects including Gala Games (GALA).

Brian Howick

VP of Engineering

Brian Howick is a seasoned leader, software developer, and tech guru. He has worked for over 20 years in a wide range of companies developing software solutions. Some of these companies include Echopass, Xennsoft, and LeadMD, where he worked as Senior Developer, VP of Engineering, and Senior Director.

Brian brings Galvan many skills including technical recruiting, user experience design, project management, agile development, and data integrations. He is excited to help Galvan grow and expand its development team and engineering capability.

Casey Nelson

VP of Operations

Casey Nelson is an expert in operations and logistics and is known for her ability to collaboratively solve complex problems. In 2019, she founded a medical billing and compliance company, which was successfully sold just two years later in 2021. During her experience in the healthcare industry, Casey developed a strong understanding of the many problems healthcare faces, which would become the perfect preparation for her next endeavor. As the head of operations for Galvan, Casey now hopes to solve many of these problems in healthcare that we see today.

Prior to her medical experience, Casey worked in tourism with Holland America and Princess cruise lines for 8 years in Alaska, where she managed logistics for the shoreside operations of 21 ships each week. In her spare time Casey loves to play volleyball, paddle board, travel, and anything to do with her dog Moose.

Nathan Covey

VP of Marketing

Nathan Covey is a savvy entrepreneur with years of experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, behavioral health, and the non-profit sector. He is the co-founder of Bridle Up Hope, a world-class charity that teaches equestrian training and life skills to women battling depression, anxiety, trauma, and abuse. Through these endeavors, Nathan has developed a passion for what he likes to call “mental fitness,” a more holistic way to view health and wellness. With the help of world-renowned scientist David Bearss, he co-founded HappySol, a technology company that leverages machine learning and AI to evaluate mental fitness through human speech. HappySol was acquired by Galvan in 2021, which will be the catalyst of bringing health and wellness solutions to the blockchain space.

Caleb Taylor

Director of Marketing

Caleb Taylor is a talented digital marketer with years of social media and e-commerce experience. Caleb most recently led the marketing and branding efforts for Happy Tooth, Utah’s hottest pediatric dentistry, which was voted as Salt Lake City’s Best Pediatric Dentist Office in 2021. Prior to Happy Tooth, Caleb worked as a financial analyst for a prestigious financial firm in Chicago. He is currently a student at the University of Utah where he played Division 1 football and resides in Utah with his wife and dog. Excited for the opportunities ahead with Galvan, Caleb is eager to contribute to the change so needed in healthcare and wellness.

Treyson Gordon

Sales Manager

Treyson Gordon brings experiences from years in the health and wellness industry where he focused on nutrition and physical fitness. Transitioning into sales for the last five years, Treyson successfully managed and trained personal teams which brought in millions of dollars in sales revenue. Treyson was introduced to blockchain technology in 2017, and since then has been involved building teams, generating sales, and blockchain and business strategy.
